M4000
Portable Acquisition and Analysis System
A Portable Test Platform for
Test & Diagnostics Applications
For the systems
developer or test engineer, working with sensors, this platform provides the sensor to
printout hardware solution. By migrating three proven data acquisition products into one
industrialized product, portable data acquisition/analysis is offered with flexibility,
ease of use and a graphical user interface. The M4000 merges standard software, Pentium
computer hardware and signal/sensor conditioning into a rugged, metal package.
The
M4000 overcomes many of the difficulties of portable automotive, aerospace and field
testing. Such testing typically requires a wide variety of sensors, each with
special set-up and calibration circuits. The M4000 provides quality, integral
sensor conditioning without the cumbersome multiple boxes, cable assemblies and
PC typically required. Among the available sensor/signal modules are LVDT, acceleration,
pressure, temperature, strain, F/V, RMS and filter.
Designed for the
portable test and diagnostic market, special design attention was given to reduce real
life problems. Power distribution design yielded (3) supplies to isolate the circuit needs
of digital, analog conditioning and sensor powering. Cabling was simplified through the
backplane design to reduce noise problems. And the modular design provides an easy to
configure, maintain and service sensor input platform. The PC will run when closed. The
display features an "inertial" hinge. Even Analog
Devices signal conditioning modules are supported with an optional
backplane.
The M4000 is a
standard PC, supporting typical industry software and development environments. National
Instruments LabVIEW, HPs VEE, and HEM Datas Snap-Master can be supplied.
Using PC
hardware and Windows software, the entire package is simple to use and inexpensive to
maintain. The M4000 can be used in a fixed installation or in the field and can
accommodate 16 integral channels of sensor conditioning. The M1000 Signal Conditioner
product family, utilizing the same signal conditioning modules, can be used to expand
beyond 16 channels.
